This reading had a lot of useful information contained within its pages. The most astounding fact that I found was 15.2% of Americans claim German as part of their heritage, which is the most of any nationality claimed by Americans. Then there was the fact that some celebrations are coming to America such as Oktoberfest yet there is no German holiday celebrated in America as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Columbus day. The information I found most entertaining was the information on the cartoon artist Thomas Nast. Before this article I had no clue that one person had created the Uncle Same poster, American Santa Claus, as well as the Republican Elephant and Democratic Donkey.
